The Senses
The
Gymini
®
Super Deluxe
Lights & Music
offers a truly multi-sensory play experience.
It stimulates sight with flashing lights and colorful images.
Touch is stimulated by the different fabrics, textures and shapes.
Baby’s hearing is stimulated with four musical selections.
Gross Motor Skills
When in the prone position, the
Gymini
®
Super Deluxe
encourages baby to lift his neck and shoulders while gazing at his reflection in the mirror.
The hanging toys invite baby to reach for them, and baby may find himself rolling over to get to them. Reaching for the toys with his arms and legs helps strengthen these important muscles.
From the sixth month, baby is drawn to the Lights & Music Touch Pad, and strikes it to elicit flashing lights or music. This helps improve his ability to support his weight with one hand.
Fine Motor Skills
The hanging toys invite baby to reach out and strike or grasp, first by chance and later quite intentionally as control over his arm and hand improves. This helps develop hand-eye coordination.
The interesting and diverse structure of the toys helps him practice different grasping methods, as well as opening and closing his hand, pulling, and later, coordination between the two hands.
Cognition
The
Gymini
®
Super Deluxe
offers a multitude of opportunities to experience
cause & effect
, such as batting at the hanging toys and making them swing, or striking the panel and causing the lights to flash or the music to play.
Object Permanence
From the fifth month, baby becomes intrigued with the concept of object permanence. He lifts the elephant's ears to reveal an animal hiding underneath, enjoying a fun peek-a-boo game.
EQ
Baby's ability to calm himself, during the first months of life, depends on external factors
.
The
Gymini
®
Super Deluxe
's special structure, with the crossed arches, reminds the baby of the closed, protective, round environment of the womb, and this has a calming effect.
The relaxing classical music selections fill this warm space with calming, auditory delights. And the mirror helps baby form a self-image, as he studies his reflection.
Language and Communication
The classical music selections contribute to baby's language development. Both are made up of a sequence of sounds that together compose "musical sentences."
Both verbal and musical sentences are received by the brain as a sequence of sounds, and baby learns to process and organize these sequences into a meaningful form.
When baby looks in the mirror he laughs as the baby in the reflection laughs back. He "talks" to his reflection, initiating an enjoyable "dialogue." This helps to develop his language and communications skills.

The "arches effect" helps relax baby, providing the security of a relatively enclosed space.
The Gymini® Super Deluxe's five colorful toys and music stimulate baby's sight and hearing.
Playing with this toy
Try to place your baby under the
Gymini™ Super Deluxe
, and play the Mozart selection. Hang the toys between 8 to 10 inches (20-25 cm.) from baby's eyes, the optimal distance for vision at this age.
Some babies feel comfortable with the
Gymini ™Super Deluxe
right from the very start, while others prefer a small, more enclosed place, such as a cradle. It is possible, therefore that your baby may not show signs of interest or enjoyment in the
Gymini™ Super Deluxe
until the third month.
The Gymini® Super Deluxe offers multi-sensory stimulation. When lying on his back, baby gazes at the hanging toys, reaches out to touch them and perfects control over his arms.
When on his tummy, baby looks in the mirror or at the Lights & Music Touch Pad, and practices raising his head, while listening to the music, and takes in all the visual delights surrounding him to further hone his senses.
Playing with this toy
Place your baby on his back under the arches, and hang the toys within reach of both his hands and feet.
To encourage your baby to practice raising his head and neck, place him on his tummy on the blanket for short intervals that gradually become longer.
When placing baby on his tummy, change his positions so that he can alternately see the colorful images on the blanket, the Lights & Music Touch Pad, and the mirror.
When you place your baby near the Lights & Music Touch Pad, turn on the music for him so that he can see the flashing lights. This will draw his attention, and encourage him to remain on his tummy for longer periods.
Place your baby either on his back or on his tummy in front of the mirror, so that he can gaze at his reflection.
As the senses develop and baby's control over his body improves, he can enjoy all the stimulation the Gymini® Super Deluxe has to offer.
On his tummy, baby can look in the mirror and babble at his reflection -- helping him to develop language and communication skills, as well as self-image.
Baby can independently operate the Lights & Music Touch Pad, learning about cause & effect.
When baby lies on his back, the Gymini® Super Deluxe provides ample opportunity to perfect hand-eye coordination, by offering colorful toys that invite him to reach out and grasp, and explore further by bringing them to his mouth.
Playing with this toy
Change the placement of the toys periodically to retain your baby's attention, and to encourage him to reach out to grasp the toys.
Place your baby so that the Lights & Music Touch Pad is a bit out this reach, to encourage him to crawl toward it on the activity blanket.
Show your baby the different types of games on the activity blanket, such as the elephant's ears – an appealing peek-a-boo-type game – the flowers, the squeaker, etc.
Place your baby next to the Lights & Music Touch Pad, and encourage him to strike at it to start the music and lights.
With the arches removed, baby can now enjoy lying or sitting on the activity blanket, and can touch and explore the toys that previously were hung over his head, while listening to the delightful music.
Baby learns about causal relationships, as he strikes the Lights & Music Touch Pad and is greeted with music and flashing lights that change each time he strikes it.
Baby begins to understand object permanence, as he lifts the elephant's ears to reveal an animal hiding underneath.
Playing with this toy
Remove the arches and let your baby play on the activity blanket with the Lights & Music Touch Pad.
Encourage your baby to put on the music and lights, and sing along with the music.
Play peek-a-boo games with the elephant's ears.
Detach the toys and let your baby play with each one individually -- to explore them with his hands and mouth, and learn how to work them with his hands, such as pulling the elephant, or turning the parrot in the cage.
